South of Paris). A very pretty and interesting town with all amenities you would require and makes an ideal base to explore the fantastic and beautiful French canal network. Otium is of riveted steel hull, circa 1930's. She was converted for cruising by Friesland Boats around 1994/5. Otium has just had the exterior totally repainted last spring and Otium was lifted out of the water, anti-fouled and new anodes installed in August 2013. The interior has been updated by the present owner from 2006 on. The boat comes with everything you need to cruise, see specifications and equipment list below, charts, maps and flags are even included so you can get motoring straight away. She has three cabins, all of which can sleep two. Two cabins are to the fore with a toilet, shower and washbasin between. The rear cabin has facility to sleep three with its own shower/toilet etc. The saloon has a fully fitted American kitchen. Half size washing machine and tumble drier in the forepeak. Hydraulic steering fitted in 2011 by Mark Vardey on Canal du Centre which makes her very easy to handle. Otium is fitted with a DAF 575 100hp Keel cooling engine and this engine has worked consistently without problems. We just change the oil now and again and the injectors have been reconditioned. The wheel-house can folded down for low bridges and both fore and aft decks can be used used as entertaining areas and we used to have garden furniture on the fore deck above the saloon. We have hardly used her for the last 2 years but she has given us 8 years of great and trouble free pleasure (only 1 broken fanbelt!) We bought her as complete novices and had little trouble learning to handle her, with the hydraulic steering it is now very easy to manoeuvre her. We are sad to part with her but we are no longer able to use her due to medical reasons. She would be a great family boat, shared ownership holiday boat or equally a lovely home for 2 or more. Any questions please contacts us and we will respond immediately. SHE IS A LOVELY SHAPE WITH LOTS OF ROOM TO HOUSE A FAMILY OF THREE TO FOUR PEOPLE EASILY, SHE DOESNT LEAK FROM THE HULL AND IS PRETTY SOLID. Can get it lifted out and have the hull inspected and washed prior to painting and probably will get it done this month but will take until the end of november as it needs grit blasting and surveying and then painting numerous times with top quality paints. The boat was previously used as a liveaboard and as a result hasnt been maintained as it should of been so it will need doing up inside and out. Keep an eye out for further pictures as the boat gets painted and worked on. Its steeped in history and there is a youtube link that shows the boat in 1964 being used pulling six fully loaded barges in london. So just type in 1964 lighterman apprentice. The engine does work beautifully and has had the water pump stripped and resealed plus new hoses, its also had a new stainless steel fuel tank, water separator fuel filter and hoses. It starts first time and sounds sweet as a nut. The engine is a stunning 6 cylinder gardner 6lw thats had a new fuel pump and new starter motor the wheelhouse is very big compared to many other boats of similar sizes and would make a spacious galley and diner. The 240v system is all rewired and working as it should do, just basic plumbing left the do before fixing the kitchen units in place and installing the new laminated flooring i have over £1000 worth of new paint to go with the boat at the asking price theres plenty of instruments on the new dash panel that will keep you busy for hours, the ladder in the wheelhouse leads down into a full size bathroom with a bath/shower , sink and toilet that can all go with the boat. There is an electric water pump that provides water pressure to the hot and cold water supply but again will need installing where the toilet is now in the bow i would remove that and keep that as a utility store and put a washer and dryer in there as its ideal for the space available which is also available. There is a small hatchway/door into the bedroom which can only be described as huge compared to most boat bedrooms, it has a king size double bed. The bedroom leads into the engine room which is quite impressive as it has had the fuel tanks removed and work benches installed, again functional but not pretty yet. The aft store room below decks are impressively huge and could easily be made into a bunk room to house two beds plus you could still house the fuel tank thats there and a 10kva generator (supplied but not fitted), stainless steel bilge pump, auxillary diesel engine with gearbox (supplied but not fitted) plus a whole array of other odds and sods that you could fit in there like extra water tanks etc. On the rear deck its lending itself to be a lovely area for bbq's and lounging around, i would even suggest you splash out on a canopy and poles to enclose the area so you can use it all year round i have a large solar panel to go with the boat and a 17ft dory with an outboard engine should you want to moor the boat on a swinging mooring and get out and back to it. There is also an 8 man life raft plus fenders, ropes etc. I could help you with the repairs and refurbishment should you require it but that will be at your expense and not included as part of the sale. I had to get started on the project asap as the weather will change in a couple of weeks so if your seriously interested then get down to see it asap as it will go cheap as it is or be sold when its all done at a price far higher than it is listed now. So in summary ive cut away the rusty old gunnels around the topsides that were dangerous and ugly and had steel posts welded front to back with brackets to hold ply sheets between the posts before putting a rail all the way round. I've also painted the wheel house and sealed all the windows. Im busy needle-gunning the deck at the moment so it should be rust free and ready to paint with non-slip pretty soon. Im not in a rush to sell the boat now but i would like to find the right buyer and im happy to carry out a lot of the work you arnt able or dont want to do so if its something your serious about feel free to come along and have a look at it over a cup of tea any questions just email away but what you see is what you get, its not been surveyed yet and although i know a bit about it i dont know everything but i'll try and answer your questions quickly and honestly. It is for sale through my company due to the repossession from the owner due to shortage of funds - someone is going to get a bargain here. £40k has been spent on this boat over the last 3 months and the work has been carried out by my company to a high standard. We specialise in bespoke refits and builds. Finised, she would be £70,000. Let's start with the exterior the topsides are sheathed in West Systems epoxy with a woven cloth, they are sprayed in epoxy primer and faired to a flat finish with a 2 pack polyurethane topcoat. This is less maintenance than a grp boat it doesn't fade and can be machine polished once a year so the top is virtually maintenance free. The decks have been replaced with marine ply, sheathed in west systems and then epoxyed with £12k of tek dek style composite decking (maintenance free no varnishing or oiling). The skylights have been overhauled on the top deck and are finished in varnish. This fills the saloon and galley with light. The wheelhouse has been extended again in marine ply sheathed and painted with wrap around glass windows. This will make a briliant seating and table area which would convert to a double bed. The exterior of the boat is stunning and it just needs personal touches such as toe rails/hand rails etc should you want them. From the rubbing strake down is double diag, and I believe it is constructed in teak. This has been taken back to bare wood and faired to a smooth finish with a single pack paint to allow movement. The hull is not sheathed as I don't believe in sheathing a good hull if it's not necessary. This hull will out live you and me due to its expensive construction which would not be viable to build today due to the cost of the wood. A full survey is available which was taken before we started work on her. The under side has been stripped and antifouled, with new seacocks installed. The propellor has been polished. The boat has recently been put back in the water and is lying on an annual berth in Southampton which welcome liveaboards, but could be moved to a berth in your chosen area. She is powered by a Hercules 6 cylinder diesel engine which pushes the boat to 12 knots. It was on our job list to remove this engine and give it a paint and some modern touches, such as a bigger alternator and glowplugs. It is a good runner and only needs cosmetic tidying. The inside of the boat has been started in some areas. The electrics have been run through and so has the plumbing. There is a double bed in the forward peak leading back into a teak faced half built galley. To the starboard side the heads are located which was going to have a sit down shower and electric seatoilet. This is wrapped in a expensive teak faced ply. Leading back there was to be a study area with desk. The saloon has a "U" shaped seating area which converts to a double bed. Opposite this is a single seat which also can be used as a single bed. This boat is very spacious and was a good size liveaboard with the option to sleep 7 when finished. The wheel house is a lovely light space and the whole boat has so much potential. The boat dimensions are 36ft long, 12ft beam and weighs 12 tons. She draws 3ft (so suitable for french canals) and the air draught is approx 9ft. ]]> 40ft ready to move in narrowboat liveaboard houseboat near London http://houseboatcentre.co.uk/listing/40ft-ready-to-move-in-narrowboat-liveaboard-houseboat-near-london-153.html MTUzLTIwMTctMDEtMTEgMTc6MDg6NDc= Wed, 11 Jan 2017 17:08:47 +0000 40 ft liveaboard narrowboat I am advertising this for a client but I have known the boat and her last 2 owners for 13 years She has always been lived on and has a lovely homely feel to her She has recently had her engine refurbished and fully serviced ready for a new owner to cruise Full size cooker Instant LPG hot water Cosy wood burner Warm air central heating LED lights Lrg shower Must be viewed to be appreciated The boat is moored in tw12 post code For all details call lisa 07850912200]]> 65ft x 11ft Widebeam Canal HouseBoat http://houseboatcentre.co.uk/listing/65ft-x-11ft-widebeam-canal-houseboat.html MTU0LTIwMTctMDItMDggMTM6NDY6NTk= Wed, 08 Feb 2017 13:46:59 +0000 65ft x 11ft Cruiser Stern Widebeam Canal Boat. We have found her in a sail away condition and spent the last 3 years refurbishing her and making her our dream boat for the next 50 years. We are only selling her, because our twin ( surprise) sons have arrived in winter and we had to move to the land where our familiy can help us with the babies. We hope that our beautiful boat will find a good and caring owner, who will love and appreciate her just as much as we did and can enjoy the luxurious living on her all year round. Katie Wijker is historical barge built in Katwijk in Holland around 1920. First she was a sailing work barge, than she has been converted to a motor yacht in the 1960s. She has been transporting coal and different type of cargo on the European rivers and canals in her early years. During the refurbishment we have found the base of her original mast and also a hidden box under her deck, which must have been used during the word war as a hiding space. We have lot’s of pictures showing all the work which we have done on her. We haven’t spared time and money, because we were building her for ourselves. We have rebuilt the wheelhouse, changed all the windows, insulated her, installed a new floor and cladding, constructed a brand new designer bathroom with a bath, redesigned the bedroom, the aft and forward cabin. We have also installed a central heating system, which is powered by a very efficient pellet boiler stove. Katie Wijker is 100% self efficient, we haven’t been in a marina, we were able to liv very cosy life on her off grid. She has huge water tanks providing enough water for 4 weeks, a big solar system so you do not need to run your generator in summer time at all, a built in diesel generator for winter. She is very well insulated and geared up with double glazed windows, so her energy efficiency is very high. This boat can sleep up to 8 people - 2 in the aft cabin (double bed), 2 in the forward cabin (twin bed), 2 in the living room (pull out sofa) and 2 in the master bedroom (double bed). Her lovely double glazed skylight has been custom built from high quality wood and making her living room very light and homely. She also has a full size kitchen - my wife is a keen cook. Length : 20.6 metres ( 67 feet 7 inches ) - Beam : 3.8 metres ( 12 feet 6 inches ) Her living space is about 85m2 (915sq ft), which provides a generous living space for the whole family (even for visitors). She is such a superb barge and a real beauty. We hope that she will find a good home. Lots of good people added their heart and best workmanship into her over the years and you will feel this love shining through as soon as you get on board. The heating is powered by a ebersbacher hydronic 10 which heats 11 radiators throughout the boat, it also has a califier installed which has not been commissioned, which is dual functions on electrics as well. All have recently fitted to a professional standard. Electricity. Major restoration works included a full refit of the electrical system which has been upgraded to a professional standard with full boat safety accreditation. The power works off mains while on shore and the 240 is powered through a inverter from the batteries while offshore which is tested and works well . Mechanics The engine is a kromhalt 5 cyclinder108hp, built in 1963, it has recently been services and used over the summers and performed perfectly with no issues. It has lots of power and sits at 4/6 knots easily. The vessel is compliant within the boat safety scheme and I drained all the tanks, cleaned them and reinstalled all of them. The bow thrusters are very effective and work off of the domestic batteries, which have been recently professionally commissioned. Tramp is very easy to sail and has been a great for our family holidays, we now wish to seek a larger vessel, hence putter her up for sale. Tramp is currently moored at Brentford Dock Marina, a picturesque spot opposite Kew Gardens. The mooring is available for the buyer. This is a non-residential leisure marina, but with an allowance of up to four nights per week on board, so it is very handy as a pied-a-terre mooring for people working around London.
